The things I do – whilst waiting for a better offer!

Confirming I Should ‘Confirm’!

This day had to come; it was only a matter of time.

I knew this day couldn’t be far off, but I didn’t expect its arrival this week!

Could this day be the beginning of the end?

Could this decision I have to make bring an end to my blogging days?

It’s ironic that this post marks my century.  Yes one hundred posts since I started in March 2010.  It’s ironic because it could be my last.  Not because I want to stop this blogging malarkey, but because I may not be around after this decision is made.

What decision could take me away from my blogging?  Could I be emigrating?  Where on earth could I emigrate and not be able to submit a new post?  Maybe it’s not on earth, could I be emigrating to the moon or the International Space Station?  Even there they have the technology to blog!

Is there a small part of the UK which hasn’t yet been introduced to the personal computer or some similar communicating device?

No, of course not, and I’m not emigrating anywhere.

So what decision has me so concerned?

Quite simply put, do I ‘Confirm’ or ‘Not now’?  Actually, perhaps that’s not as simple as I first thought, at least if you are not on Facebook.  Let me explain to those who have thus far resisted.  When on Facebook, a friend, or someone you once smiled at in the street and who happened to be able to find out your name, sends you a request to be your friend.  You then have total power to accept that person as a friend or spit in their eye (virtually speaking).

A simple click on the ‘Confirm’ button adds that person to your ever growing list of ‘friends’, and let’s face it, a lot of us probably have ‘friends’ in our list who we may well have smiled at once and have never seen since!

Alternatively, a click on the ‘Not now’ button places that potential friend back on the shelf to gather dust until Facebook decides they have had long enough sitting there all lonely and sends you a gentle reminder that you haven’t yet accepted them into your fold.

Which brings me back to my dilemma.

I have received a friend request from someone with whom I have exchanged more than just one smile; someone with whom I am more than just a friend.  Yes, you’ve guessed it; She Who Must Be Obeyed has finally found the Facebook website and has decided to sign up.  Although, I have my suspicions that she may have been coerced to do so by some of my other long standing friends.  Especially as it all happened whilst I was out of the country!

What are the consequences of this confirmation?

What are the consequences of this confirmation?

Let me just set the record straight; I have absolutely no problem clicking that ‘Confirm’ button.  She is after all more than just a friend.  So why the dilemma?

Well, if you have been following these pages for a while, you may have noticed the occasional comment about She Who Must Be Obeyed.  You may also have seen my description of her on the Roll Call page.  And that description still holds true to this day.  Even though my blog has been discussed in her presence, she has either chosen to ignore it or has not picked up on it.

However, or should it be a big BUT, if I click ‘Confirm’, because these posts are automatically displayed on my Facebook profile, She Who Must Be Obeyed will almost certainly want to know what my links to these pages are all about.  And then…, well, who knows.  I may not be around to write more.  I may not be able to write more.

Maybe I’d better get the Space Shuttle program back up and running and emigrate after all.  To infinity and beyond…

If this is the last, it’s been emotional!  😉

Before I go, you can help me ‘confirm’ I am making the right decision…

Author: Better Offer

I am approaching my saga years (rapidly)! Correction, I have now reached my saga years! I am a thespian who has appeared in commercials and films and on TV, and love my time on stage but am extremely frustrated that I get most my work as an amateur. When not on stage I can be found walking the countryside, leading worship at my local church or running IT training courses and fixing PCs – just waiting for that better offer!

  1. Like I said, if she really has to be obeyed then you’d better click confirm SHARPISH or have you been trying to garner sympathy all this time???

  2. This day was bound to come , she will be fine if she ever gets round to reading your posts!!

  3. This is your best yet. I confess I knew of the Facebook inclusion but didn’t make the connection.

    It will be fun!

I'd love to hear your views...
